Athian Akec, a 17 year old activist and member for Camden of the UK Youth Parliament, became a viral sensation in 2018 after making a rousing speech in the House of Commons, calling for the Government to take action on knife crime.

He has since become a prominent voice, representing the concerns of young people in London, campaigning on issues such as Brexit and climate change, and has contributed to The Guardian, The Independent and Huffpost. In September 2020, he was featured in i-D magazine’s Up + Rising issue, where he was celebrated as an extraordinary black voice, alongside 100 activists, artists, musicians, writers, photographers and creatives.
